Data protection provisions
Updated, 01 February 2010
These
data
protection provisions explain how your data are acquired, used and safeguarded. Your access to our websites
and the use made thereof are governed by the terms and conditions set out below. If you
visit and consult
this website, you agree unreservedly to these data protection provisions. We only disclose personal
data to third parties in cases where laws or regulations make this imperative. We comply with the statutory
provisions on data protection.
Access data records
When
you access Helvetia Group websites, specific cookies or web bugs may be used to record data of a non-personal
nature about the use of this website. In addition, the following access data are stored in a log file
for data security reasons:
- IP address
- Date and time of access
- Name of data file retrieved
- Access status (e.g. OK, partial content, document not found)
- Site from which access was obtained
- Top-Level Domain (e.g. *.ch, *.fr, *.com)
- Web browser used
- Operating system used
These data are
protected against unauthorised access
and will not be disclosed to third parties. No evaluation relating to particular individuals is made.
The Helvetia Group evaluates data solely on an anonymous basis and for statistical purposes, for instance
to ascertain how many times the site was accessed on a particular day. The Helvetia Group does not process
any data relating to particular individuals on its websites, unless such data are intentionally transferred
to it by the user.
Protection and use of your personal
data
When
an electronic contact or communication takes place, your data will in principle be transferred via a
public network that is accessible to everyone. In addition, the data may, under certain circumstances,
be transferred across national borders even if the sender and addressee are located in the same state.
In so far as individual data packets are transmitted in an encrypted form, the sender and addressee
remain unencrypted. The possibility that data sent in this way may be seen by third parties and the
contact made with us emulated cannot be ruled out. We cannot therefore accept any liability or responsibility
in this regard.
Discretion in communication by e-mail cannot be guaranteed
for reasons inherent in the system. We therefore do not accept any orders for business procedures or
transactions (e.g. conclusion of contracts) via this medium.
To safeguard
the security and confidentiality within the Helvetia Group of the personal data recorded by us online,
we use in particular data networks that are equipped with standardised firewalls and password protection.
Access to the personal data is reserved for those Helvetia staff members who can demonstrate a need
to know and who have been trained in the use of sensitive data. Although we cannot guarantee that the
data do not reach the wrong recipients, are not lost, misused or modified, we do use our best endeavours
to prevent such problems. As the World Wide Web is accessible to the general public, the Helvetia Group
cannot give any guarantee or accept any liability for such problems or faults.
In
all cases, we take all appropriate measures to ensure that personal data cannot be seen by third parties.
This does not extend to partners who provide services for you on our behalf. We seek an assurance from
our partners that they comply with equivalent data protection provisions.
We
only record personal data that are transmitted to us for special, limited purposes. For example, recorded
personal data may be used to supply products or services for your benefit, to present products and services
that are of interest to you or simply for communication for any other purpose whatsoever. We only retain
personal data for as long as this is necessary for the purposes described and always in a manner compliant
with any applicable legal secrecy obligations.
Links to
other sites
The
data protection provisions explained above are applicable only to our own websites to the exclusion
of third party websites. We may set up links to other websites that we believe to be of interest. However,
given the nature of the World Wide Web, we cannot guarantee in every respect a high standard of all
the linked websites nor can we accept any liability for websites for which we are not responsible.
Modifications
The
Helvetia Group reserves the right to alter its websites at any time and without prior notice.
