Founded
The Group has been organized within a holding structure since 1996. The parent company Helvetia Holding directly or indirectly owns both Helvetia Leben, Basel and Helvetia Versicherungen, St.Gallen. Major shareholder of the insurance group is the Patria Co-operative, with 30 percent of the shares.

The Group has been organized within a holding structure since 1996. The holding company’s registered shares are quoted on the Swiss Stock Exchange.

Helvetia is an internationally active all-lines insurance service group based in Switzerland with core competencies in risk management (life and non-life business, reinsurance) and pensions. Helvetia is active in Central and Southern Europe through our regional offices, subsidiaries and associated companies as well as worldwide through our network partners.

Market presence
Helvetia focuses its activities on three core markets Switzerland, Germany and Austria, two developing markets: Italy and Spain and operates in niche markets, such as transport insurance (France), and assumed reinsurance.
