With a market share of approximately 8%, Helvetia is one of the largest insurance companies in Switzerland. With 35 general agencies and approximately 2'500 employees, Helvetia serves 750 000 private customers and small and medium-sized enterprises. With a share of volume of more than 50%, Helvetia's own sales force is the most important distribution channel. This channel is supplemented by 700 selected brokers and agents as well as renowned cooperation partners. Via the Swiss cantonal banks and Raiffeisen Switzerland, Helvetia has exclusive access to the local banking channel.
In September 2010, Helvetia acquired from Allianz Suisse the insurance companies Alba and Phenix.
