The Helvetia blog won silver in the «Best of Corporate Publishing» (BCP) competition. Representatives of the Corporate Media team and the Crafft Kommunikation agency were able to accept the renowned prize on Wednesday evening in Hamburg. With more than 650 publications submitted, the BCP is the biggest competition for corporate communication in Europe.
Back in the spring it was announced that the BCP jury had placed the Helvetia blog on the shortlist of the three best new developments within the area of social media in Europe. Also nominated were the platforms «Electronic Beats» by Deutsche Telekom and «vigozone» by AOK Rhineland/Hamburg. The latter was awarded the gold prize.
At the Econ Awards 2013 in Berlin too, the Helvetia blog won silver in the «Digital Media» category. The jury for the renowned communication prize selected the Helvetia blog from eleven nominees in the category «Digital Media», distinguishing it with the silver award. At a celebratory gala in the Humboldt Carré Berlin, chairman of the jury Klaus Rainer Kirchhoff presented the coveted trophy to those responsible at Helvetia Insurance. The Helvetia blog «fills the supposedly dry world of insurance with life» and represents «very successful corporate communication», said the jury, justifying their decision.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) honoured the Helvetia Group with the Best Improver Award at its annual conference. The prize recognises the transparency of Helvetia’s climate reporting.
Helvetia has been participating in the annual CDP survey since the 2008 reporting year. It attributes the huge improvement in the 2012 reporting year to several factors: First, the insurer conducted the first-ever full inventory of all relevant emission sources along its value chain. In addition, the Group has a range of insurance products for climate-friendly technologies, applies environmental criteria to its real estate investments and integrates climate aspects into its risk management and corporate strategy.
Stefan Loacker, CEO of Helvetia Group, is thrilled about the award: «It confirms that we are on the right track in combating climate change.» Over the next few years, the Helvetia Group will remain focused on improving its environmental management even more, based on firm, realistic climate protection goals.

The I.VW-HSG has reviewed our calculation methodology and its underlying assumptions and confirms that the requirements of the body of rules are fully complied with. Thus, Helvetia is the first company to develop and introduce this customer-friendly solution for unit-linked pension solutions with a guarantee.
With the unit-linked Guarantee Plan and Payout Plan products, the guarantee forms an important foundation in the form of basic protection. The fundamental advantage of this type of product lies in its potential returns, however. At the same time a client wants a forecast of the expected benefits – i.e. the future value development of his or her capital investment – that is as realistic as possible, and sometimes across a very long time frame.
Since the developments in interest rates and the securities market are uncertain, the forecasts – depending on the market scenario behind them – can end up higher or lower. For this reason, three scenarios of possible future value developments are outlined in the application.
When it comes to IT, our efforts towards prize-winning top solutions have met with international recognition. Thus in 2009, Helvetia’s role and authorisation management system was presented with an award for the best internal IAM / GRC project at the «European Identity Conference» by a jury made up of renowned analysts, including Kuppinger, Cole & Partner, one of the most important analysts in identity management.
