CO2 reduction

Helvetia has a goal of reducing absolute CO2 emissions by 10 per cent by 2020 and of neutralising the remaining emissions.

The majority of Helvetia’s emissions are from office building energy consumption, business trips and paper use. In order to act in a targeted way, we committed ourselves to reducing CO2 emissions by 20 per cent per employee by 2020 in comparison to the reference year of 2012. By the end of 2017, we had achieved a reduction in CO2 emissions of 26.2 per cent per employee. To this end, Helvetia reduces energy consumption at all office locations and invests in energy-saving technology and building materials within the scope of new buildings and renovation measures. Business and commuter traffic was also optimised with an effective corporate mobility concept. Other actions include purchasing electricity from 100 per cent renewable sources and participating in the energy-saving model of the Energy Agency of the Swiss Private Sector (EnAW) with the conclusion of location-based CO2 reduction goals. Since 2018 we have been neutralising our remaining CO2 emissions by investing in climate protection projects.
