How bikers save on premiums

The sun’s out, and there’s nothing to stop you going on the perfect motorbike ride. And the ride is even better if you can save money on it. Our hints will make your ride cheaper.

Every motorbike owner knows all about insuring it. But have you heard about our saving hints too?

Any motorbike rider has to make sure he’s properly insured. But there are ways of saving time and money. Here are our hints:

Deposit your number plate? Not necessary

It can be stressful to deposit your number plate with the  driver and vehicle licensing office if you’re not using your motorbike, then go and get it back in good time for your next ride. Helvetia’s flat-rate premium means you can give that trip to the driver and vehicle licensing office a miss. You pay only nine months’ premiums, but you get twelve months’ cover. You don’t need to deposit your number plate, the annual premium is already discounted. That saves you not just time, but also the driver and vehicle licensing office’s charges for depositing and reissuing the plate.

Safety training

When you get back on a bike for the first time in years, you can brush up your riding skills at a bike safety training course. Helvetia gives you a voucher for it that’s worth CHF 80. If you don’t yet have a maximum no-claims bonus, voluntarily completing a bike safety training course raises your bonus level for third-party and accidental collision damage insurance.

When bikers get behind the wheel

If you insure your motorbike with Helvetia, then you get a no-claims bonus on your private car insurance until you reach the age of 25.

Happy riding!

Biker Days

While we’re on the subject of motorbikes... it all kicks off on 13 July. Switzerland’s greatest motorbike festival is being held in Basel for three days. Helvetia is an official partner for this international event. The parade through the city will certainly be a highlight, and a must for every enthusiastic biker. Further information on the programme and the exhibitors who will be present can be found here. Come along to the Biker Days between 13 and 15 July. We are looking forward to meeting you!
