In January the fifth edition of the Worldwebforum was held in Zurich. The two-day event dealt with the question of how companies can master the digital transformation successfully. Although the subject in itself is closely related to IT, the Worldwebforum is a business rather than an IT conference. As in previous years, this year’s event saw more first-rate speakers, including Ed Catmull, co-founder and president of Pixar, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, one of the pioneers of the World Wide Web, and Marian Goodell, co-founder and CEO of the Burning Man festival.
Prominent experts on the local economy such as Marc Walder, CEO of media company Ringier, and Pierin Vincenz, President of the Board of Directors at Helvetia, gave their thoughts on the question of whether Switzerland is ready for the digital transformation. In addition, the experts demonstrated how each individual can get to grips with digitisation.
One thing’s for certain: the digital transformation will occupy Switzerland and its businesses for a long time to come. Hence even the next edition of the Worldwebforum will lose nothing of its topicality.
