Protection forest: combating natural disasters

Helvetia’s commitment to protection forests has led to reforestation in the following areas:

Engadin (GR)

In 2011, 10,000 trees were planted in St. Moritz in cooperation with the Graubünden cantonal forestry authorities.

Berner Oberland (BE)

In 2012, 10,000 trees were planted in 18 regions of the Bernese Oberland.

Oberwallis (VS)

As the second reforestation project in 2012, the area above Visp (VS), where a devastating forest fire destroyed the protection forest, was reforested.

Around the Rigi (SZ)

In 2013, 10,000 trees were planted in five areas around the Rigi.

Jura (JU)

In 2013, 10,000 trees were planted in four regions.

Glarus South (GL)

In 2014, 10,000 trees were planted in five regions.

Obwalden (OW)

In 2014, 10,000 trees were planted in twelve regions.

Toggenburg (SG)

In 2015, 10,000 trees were planted in three regions.

Freiburg (FR)

In 2015, 10,000 trees were planted in three regions.

Luzern (LU)

In 2016, 10,000 trees were planted in four regions.
