In principle there are no deadlines. The insurance can therefore be concluded even one day before departure. Nevertheless, the cover will not include events that had already occurred or should have been obvious to the insured person when the insurance was concluded or before the trip or holiday was booked or started.
Yes. If the theft occurred on the day of departure, the costs of the replacement of documents required for travel are covered. However, if your passport is stolen a week before departure, for example, there is no cover through the Assistance insurance. Depending on the damaging event, insurance coverage is nevertheless provided through the household contents insurance.
Yes. The Assistance for persons covers the temporary interruption to your trip if, for example, a loved one has died, your home has been broken into, or your stand-in at work falls ill.
Events such as illness, accident or death of the policyholder him or herself, a loved one or his or her stand-in at work are covered. The insurance also covers cancellation costs, among other things. After commencement of the trip, the repatriation costs are covered right through to the policyholder's place of residence.
No. Your luggage is insured against theft and loss through your household contents insurance. With the Assistance for persons, however, you get a cost advance (CHF 2,000.00 per insured person) for essential purchases if your luggage is damaged or stolen during transportation, or if credit cards, cheques, ID papers or the personal ticket of the insured person is stolen.
