Homebell, Germany's most-booked online provider for renovation work, has snapped up EUR 11 million in a series B financing round. SevenVentures, the financial investor in the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, is investing for the first time as lead investor in the Berlin-based company. Along with Kompass Digital, two leading insurance companies, AXA Germany and the Helvetia Venture Fund, are also participating in the financing round. Current investors Lakestar, Global Founders Capital and Index Ventures, which have supported Homebell from the outset, are investing again. This means that in addition to the renowned VCs, relevant industry heavyweights are supporting the further development of the renovation company.

Homebell was founded by Felix Swoboda and Sascha Weiler in October 2015 and has since established itself as the digital market leader for renovation work in Germany. Homebell is a reliable contracting partner for its customers, therefore clearly differentiating itself from traditional online platforms, which merely serve as intermediaries. The company plans the project for the customer, selects the professional craftsmen and executes the entire work order. The customer saves time and can rely on Homebell's craftsmen. The emphasis is on quality, which is continuously monitored. The once cumbersome process of planning a project and looking for and hiring craftsmen can now be carried out online with just a few clicks and without a site visit. Craftsmen benefit at the same time: Homebell takes care of their acquisition, project planning and invoicing activities, leaving them more time for additional work orders. Homebell bundles the purchasing of materials for multiple craft businesses, thus creating further benefits for craftsmen and customers.

"Reliability is our top priority", explains Felix Swoboda. "We will continue to invest in our technology and support our craftsmen so that our customers enjoy renovating." In the process, small and medium-sized craft businesses will benefit even more from digitisation in future. "Our objective is to make it possible to order renovation work online just as quickly and easily as books or shoes", says Sascha Weiler. "On average, people spend 87% of their lives in houses, flats and offices. We ensure that they feel comfortable there."

The Berlin-based technology company will further expand its market leadership for renovation services in Germany and the Netherlands with the fresh infusion of capital. It plans to tap new customer groups and further strengthen its pool of craftsmen in the coming year. The above-average quality offered by Homebell is also confirmed by the Technical Inspection Agency (TÜV), which certified the company as the first craft business in Germany in October 2017.
