What benefits does valuables insurance provide?

Valuables insurance grants you financial coverage for luxury items. The insurance is particularly worthwhile for valuables with an individual value of CHF 20,000 or more. However, items with a lower value may also be insured. We cover the cost of repairing or replacing your valuables if they are lost, damaged or stolen.

The insurance covers:
  • Jewellery and watches
  • Musical instruments
  • Furs
  • Collector’s items
  • Photographic and video equipment
  • Technical equipment, computers, notebooks
  • Hunting and sports weapons
  • Pictures, sculptures and works of art

No fine print. When does valuables insurance pay up and when does it not?

Your insurance pays if …

… a burglar steals one of your artworks.

… you lose your expensive camera while travelling.

… your luxury watch is stolen while you are holidaying.

… your valuable painting is damaged.

Your insurance will not pay if ...

… your jewellery is stolen after being left in an unlocked vehicle.

… the damage to the item is due to normal wear and tear.

… if your valuable grand piano is damaged by a removal firm during transport. In such cases, the removal firm is liable.

Our tips for you

Protecting items valued at under CHF 20,000

You can insure items with an individual value of up to CHF 20,000 and a total value of up to CHF 100,000 with additional household contents insurance for special objects of value.

You must keep the receipts

To take out valuables insurance or in the event of a claim, we need a receipt for each item (invoice, receipt or estimate).

Have your valuables valued from time to time

The replacement value may change. It is therefore worthwhile having valuables estimated at regular intervals, in the event of a claim.

For items valued at more than CHF 50,000

Objects with an individual value of over CHF 50,000 or a total value of over CHF 100,000 must be specially secured or under constant supervision, otherwise the insurer may reduce the benefits in the event of a claim.
