Each year, local insurers provide the pooling network with information about the pooled contracts they hold – without passing on personal data. This includes, for example, the overall result of premiums received and benefits paid.
If, at the end of the year, the pool has paid out less money than was paid in, there is the possibility for the entire group of companies to receive a share of the profits. Any losses are absorbed by the pooling network or offset by subsequent positive gains.
International pooling is possible for companies in Switzerland that are part of an international group. For compensation in the pool to work, there must be at least two companies in the pool within three years.
Depending on the number of insured employees and the total of the premiums in the pool, companies can set up their own pool. However, a company can also participate in a multi-pool with other companies that share the result together.
